Daniel H. Dietrich, Jr. photograph collection. 1944-1970.

Contains the following types of materials: photographs, postcards, soldier art. Covers the following wars: World War I (WWI), World War II (WWII), Vietnam War. Contains photographs of the following military units: 110th Field Artillery Battalion; 59th Field Artillery Battalion; 4th Artillery Observation Battalion; Target Acquisition Battery; 4th Armored Division. General description of the collection: Daniel H. Dietrich, Jr. photograph collection ranges from 15 post cards of German origin for WWI and photos through WWII and Vietnam to Greenland. Nothing is known about Daniel H. Dietrich Jr. Unfortunately, very few of the photos are captioned and the units cited above reflect only what was printed on associated group photos, usually only one of each. The WWII photos are late war, mostly 1945 and show occupation duty. The Greenland photos are of Camp Lloyd, Sondres Stamfjord in 1955. Photographs of the Vietnam era show Lieutenant Colonel Dietrich in a number of places, but there are no combat scenes. Most of those photos are of villages, the people there, or of United States (U.S.) soldiers in rather leisurely pursuits. The six items of soldier art are pencil drawings of individuals and two soldiers changing a tire on a truck.
